Not saying what the cop did is right. But before anyone judges the entire timeline needs to be investigated. Yes the cop used excessive force. And in this case the guy kneeling on the perps neck should be facing Murder in the first degree. The perp was secured and their was no reason to continue restraint the way they did. There is a video dissing a fire fighter for walking up to a window of burning building then backing off and putting on his mask, while bystanders reach in and pull a victim to safety. What the video did not show was the fire fighter already had 2 rescues and when he reached in for this one the victim stripped his mask. Point being our society has become a victim of agenda editing. Again for sure the guy on the neck of this perp better be facing murder 1. The others accessory to murder. Was the guy being detained an angel. Will never believe that for a second. I imagine he was resisting, name calling etc.. but once detained, handcuffed, there was no necessity in keeping a knee on his neck causing death....the one cop nor any other cop not telling him to let up was just as wrong.. if if I were those police officers assuming he was quite belligerent. I probably would not have felt very caring. but I am a police officer, I am supposed to be a professional.i am supposed to stand better than that. they all should be fired from there jobs. The police officer with his knee on his neck should be charged with murder, maybe another term. Negligent homicide. The other three a lesser degree, i am speculating the guy with the knee was senior and no one wanted to speak up

I have to wonder if anybody there thought to call 911 with their concerns at least get it on tape (not a shitty cell video) what was happening in real time.

Once the guy went limp they should have checked on him. Being unresponsive he needed a bus to the hospital. The perp could breath even though he complained (you can't talk if you can't breath). But the look of the officer with the knee showed me an arrogant expression when he looked at the camera. It would be nice to know what the other guy that was blocked from view by the car was doing.

I don't think murder is the crime, manslaughter for sure. Negligence/incompetence yes-the officers intent and reason for force come into play trying to get a murder charge. I hate to make any more assumptions until I see more than what I've seen, it appears his partner was black/minority so hard to see an overt racist intent. I also know this will probably not be well received but once again why resist? He could get taken in, booked, and released probably within a matter of hours or at most a few days in the current climate. It sure sounds like it wasn't his first go round in the system.
Yes I know it's no excuse for the pinning of the neck which was way wrong but the fact remains if he's cooperative he's alive and likely back home already. Now with an election just over 5 months away and COVID in remission this is going to be the new focus. Deja Vu all over again, this will be the first in a rash of similar stories I'm sure.

Per the NPR article in the original post, the suspect appeared to be "under the influence", which could explain why he wasn't very cooperative...
From the original NPR article: The police department said a suspect was sitting on top of his car and appeared to be under the influence when police ordered him to step away from the vehicle. According to the statement, he "physically resisted officers."

First, if this really went down the way we're told, then every single one of these cops should be locked up.
Now we're going to be treated for weeks about how only blacks are killed blah blah blah.
I can't stand how stupid this country has become.

Eye for an eye. When found guilty, strip'em and drop em off where this happened and let nature take its course, film it and show it to all trainees. step over the line and this will be you. I agree, that Asian cop was acting all tough-like. Let's see him go back to that area without his badge and see how brave he is.

MNPLS SWAT and FD better be on full alert, as well as the MN National Guard. This shit is likely to blow up easily considering the national fuel that will get dumped on the already tense local situation. This fucker is going to get ugly IMO, especially with the covid stress on top of it. Yea buddy. Of course if the rioters aren't practicing social distancing they will end up in the slammer......right. Sorry for the man that lost his life but it's fun to watch politicians collide with themselves.

Why do people always take advantage of a tragedy to loot?

And we’re off. Leave it to a terrorist group to lead the charge. I wonder who pays them?

Why do people always take advantage of a tragedy to loot? Yea I was going to post that, people are running into Target and running out with carts full of stuff. Don’t understand why, it situations like this, some just think they can do what ever they want. Target had nothing to do with this yet are getting looted.

And we’re off. Leave it to a terrorist group to lead the charge. I wonder who pays them? I watched that and it reminded me of a dead animal with maggots on it. Those people don’t give a shit about a black person being murdered. These people serve no purpose to society.

I am pro life ... and therefore anti-death penalty.
He should be given the death penalty. No question his intent was to murder.
I hope the feds bring a hate crime and murder charge.
