May 1st. Some states should open up earlier. This is insane. We threw the country into a depression to suppress a virus that kills less than 1% of healthy people that get it. JPM is projecting a 40% drop in 2nd quarter GDP and 20% unemployment. This is the first time in history that governments have intentionally triggered a Great Depression. This has long term consequences that are much worse than the virus. I don’t say this lightly. My boss passed away from the virus two weeks ago. A friend died last week. I work in NYC and live on Long Island. I know many people who have the virus. But both the people I knew who died had other health issues. We never should have shut down the whole country. And I don’t say this out of selfish economic interest. I’m 57, can work from home and I’m still getting a nice salary. My bonus at year end may be lighter but that’s fine. I work because I want to not because I have to. But for millions of others this is devastating. By all means keep the elderly and people with repository issues at home. Also folks with heart issues or diabetes. But if you’re under 60 and healthy, let them work. How are people holding up there? You guys are really getting hit hard. A lot of people are praying it ends soon for all of us but especially the people in your area. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. People are very scared. I mentioned the two people who I know that passed but I know about 20 people who have the virus or have had it. My doctor thinks I had it about 4 weeks ago as I had mild symptoms and then about two weeks of a persistent cough. I wont know for sure until I can get the antibody test. I have two friends that are doctors who do their normal hours at their practice and then head to the hospital to help. They say it’s been awful but the situation seems to have stabilized. I don’t want to come off as heartless in my previous post but just driving around and seeing all the small businesses shut is heartbreaking. I’ve known a lot of these owners since I was a kid and their business might not come back. We have to come up with a smart plan to get the young and healthy back to work soon. I like Trump but he’s delusional if he thinks that the economy is going to come roaring back. Since this is a sports board, take the analogy of a football player that went to the hospital in July and lost 40% of his strength and muscle mass. Do you think he’s going to be ready to play in September? That’s what happened to our economy. This is one year rebuild if we open up soon. Every month that we stay shut down adds another 6 months to getting back to full employment. Prayers to all and stay safe.

Is it really that bad? During the great recession of just over 10 years ago, people were being laid off for legit economic reasons, not just because of people not being social. Engineers, business people, construction workers, etc. Aren't most of the layoffs now just food service, bartenders, etc? They should come roaring back! People will want to get out and have fun!
I'm not worried. Even now, I don't do social distancing, I don't have hand sanitizer, I don't wash for 20 seconds, I still bite my nails and rub my eyes, etc. I'd have no problem going to a crowded bar right now and sharing some apps with my friends.

That’s 10% of the workforce. Another 10 million are projected to lose their jobs in the next month. That’s not just waiters and bartenders. A 40% drop in GDP is $8 trillion of economic activity. That’s an incredible loss of wealth and savings even for people who don’t lose their jobs. We are doing long term economic damage to our country.

The models were always wrong What are your thoughts on Jack Posobiec's original predictions? What were they? I do think he is also overdoing the virus threat tho. One thing he has always been right in is China, and we must break from them.

And guess who doesn't care... The media. Actually they just don’t care they love it.... Fear mongering must be good for the industry... I cut down like 90% on watching the media over a month ago. I’ll usually watch Fox, Oan, newsmax and sometimes tune into the liberal stations for about a minute. I’ve turned off the sports channels also can’t stand the bottom of the screen... I’ll watch recorded sports events and westerns.

Nibe I haven’t changed anything either... I’ve used hand sanitizer about three times in my life and I bite my nails also.. You realize your immune system is supposed to be able to fight off any virus or bug... Don’t run your immune system down..

I've read that many people who get it have mild symptoms and recover fairly quickly. But some are put on ventilators and that's no bargain. Others unfortunately die. I figure until we get some clarity, me and the trophy wife will hunker down and avoid crowds.
Anyway, stay safe and healthy...

If we keep this country closed for 60 more days its going to be so much worse than this virus. If you are at risk, please stay home. This thing needs to make the rounds and go away. We are just slowing things down. I just read that anywhere from 80-85 percent of people testing positive get no symptoms. The hydroxychloroquine is working cocktailed with other drugs very well doctors that I have seen have said. You have a michigan gov banning friends (ok I exaggerate). A complete tool. Mayor yoga pants in LA telling people to snitch. What a complete over reacting shitshow this has been. Doctors being told to fudge the numbers, yes I paraphrase but you cant trust the mortality rates because of it. I am certain of 2 things. 1. There is more going on then they are telling us. 2. If you told people that they would be transported by train to a camp that was safe from the virus they would line up to do it. They would pay to do it. I am seeing how easily we went from land of the free to nazi germany. People are sheep and letting the network news not only scare the hell out of them but control them. It frightens and nauseates me at the same time.

You realize your immune system is supposed to be able to fight off any virus or bug... Don’t run your immune system down.. Speaking of that, when I was a grad student at the U we had an office in Walter Library, or the DTC for those a little younger lol. Anyways, I would eat at my desk every day. Well, something like 10,000 people/day passed through the door of the library, so I probably came in contact with a bazillion bugs/viruses. But I don't recall getting sick and after I graduated, my immune system was like steel! Couldn't get me sick, no matter what. That's good immune system exercise. Or sit around and never exercise your immune system and then get sick over any little thing.

That’s where hand sanitizer comes in, you use it it kill germs then your immune system don’t need to and the result is a wreaking immune system. I’ve never had a habit of using the crap and I’m about to.
