Sorry guys, didn't see Everson was being discussed over here. I wanted Everson back, felt he was good for the line, also for the locker room. Certainly worth 3 million, possible 6.
I also have a hard time believing that if we offered anything similar to Dallas, no one would be reporting it.
This feels a lot like BRob and how he was strung along. My guess, and it's only a guess, Everson learned from him. I also believe Zimmer has the power to keep those he REALLY wants to.

My guess, and it's only a guess, Everson learned from him. I also believe Zimmer has the power to keep those he REALLY wants to. I'm not so sure about that. Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune put out this today ( link): Griffen opted out of his contract in February after 10 years with the team, though coach Mike Zimmer said throughout the offseason he wanted the 32-year-old to return to Minnesota. Zimmer, sources said, was pitching Griffen on coming back, and a source added the Vikings made a “very strong offer” to Griffen, whose contract with the Cowboys could be worth up to $6 million this season.
In the end, Griffen picked a fresh start in Dallas over the chance to stay in the Twin Cities (where he still lives with his family in the offseason).
I'm speculating here, but I'm thinking Zimmer really wanted him back and Everson chose Dallas instead...to me, I'd like to hear from Griffin to see if we can pick up any specifics on why he made the decision to choose Dallas over Minnesota, considering the Vikings made a "strong offer" to retain him, including a full-court press from Zimmer himself.

Nice little piece by Will Ragatz at the Vikings SI.Insider website on all the potential free agents the Vikings could possibly target at DT, DB & CB - if the wanted too ( link). The premise for the article was that the Vikings seemingly made a hard push for Griffin and ultimately Everson chose Dallas, so since they made that strong push, does that mean they may want to make a push for someone else? They tried for DT PJ Hall and I'm still speculating that Zimmer may have wanted Griffin to play more inside at the 3T position than DE, so for me, the most likely potential is at the DT spot. I'm wondering if the Vikings would kick the tires on Marcell Dareus - he's never quite lived up to his past contracts w/ the Bills & Jags because he's never been a great pass-rusher, but he's still a very solid run-defender and quite honestly, the Vikings could use one after Piece's opt-out. Dareus did have core-muscle surgery that placed him on the IR for the Jags in 2019 so there's a risk, so a nice little 1-yr "prove-it" deal in the ballpark of what Dallas paid Everson could make sense - if Dareus "proves it" in 2020, then he could get a nice little payday in the 2020 offseason for a contender looking to shore-up their interior run-defense. Also, I still think a reunion w/ CB Dre Kirkpatrick would help the Vikings (in terms of having a vet for the rookies) and Kirkpatrick to possibly give him the possibility of cashing-in one more time in the 2021 offseason. Of course, all of these potential FA targets hinders on what the Vikings do w/ Cook's extension - if there is one. I would think if there is, the Vikes would try and have as much of the guaranteed cap hit be put up-front in 2020 as they can absorb so they can get out of his contract in the future if they need to.

Vikings pick up depth at the S position behind Harry/Harris today... Just a little background on Parker (from a Skol Reddit thread - link) Parker was undrafted in 2018. He spent the year with the Rams practice squad and then was waived at the end of the 2019 preseason. He was then claimed by the Dolphins and played in 14 games, starting 4. Last year, he was credited with 2 interceptions, 3 passes defended, and 20 combined tackles. He’s 6’1, and 24 years old. His PFF grading is halfway decent at 63.5 ( link)

Well, I guess we're rollin' with what we have on the roster in the secondary...I thought a vet like Dre Kirkpatrick could would provide a little stability and perhaps mentor some of the rookies/younger players (like Hughes/Hill/Boyd) to possibly take pressure off of Zimmer to not have to coach these guys up as much and focus on the overall team... Arizona Cardinals bolster CB spot by signing veteran Dre Kirkpatrick link

It doesn't look like Reiff will be making those incentive bonuses....
