Uncle, please don't do this... Also, I found this on the Skol Reddit site: Vikings 2020 1st Rd rookie WR Justin Jefferson goin' down a grabbin' one off the practice field turf: Man, I was holding my breath and I was glad the video was short...lol Ha - did you think I meant Jefferson got hurt (goin' down and grabbin' one meant grabbin' his ACL)? That's how one could read it...yes.

8/14/20 - Notes from the press being at TC (all just copied/pasted from Twitter):
Arif Hasan: - Shamar Stephen is the only player on the official roster that wasn't at practice (Jeff Gladney present but not practicing). Armon Watts and Jaleel Johnson in at first team DT, switching between 3T and nose
- Alexander Hollins, who seemingly has added a little bit of weight (college weight of 170 pounds), with a few really impressive catches today.
Chad Graff: The Vikings’ offensive line today: 1st team: Reiff-Dozier-Bradbury-Elflein-O’Neill 2nd team: Hill-Cleveland-Jones-Samia-Udoh 3rd team: Brandel-Collins-Lacina-Hinton-Aiello
Eric Smith: Here’s how #Vikings cornerbacks lined up today. Gladney did not practice. Hughes and Hill were outside to start. Hughes moved into slot, with Boyd and Dantzler both getting reps at other outside spot. Nice day for Hill, who had INT in 1-on-1s. Fields also in slot at times.

The Vikings’ offensive line today: 1st team: Reiff-Dozier-Bradbury-Elflein-O’Neill Wow...does anybody else wish they would have signed a free agent guard?

Good read by Sam Ekstrom from Zone Coverage on Day 1... Minnesota Vikings Day 1 Practice Report: Piecing Together the Depth Chart linkSome highlights if you don't want to click on link: - Zimmer mentioned this regarding the OL and who's starting where on the interior: "After a few days, we’re going to settle in and start getting going with where we’re at,” Zimmer said. “But some of the backups have to play both sides anyway, so they’re going to have to be traveling to different spots. But we’re going to try to make a quick decision with some of these offensive linemen. Probably after three days in pads or something like that.”- Bisi Johnson was the preferred WR2 opposite Adam Thielen and made a pair of contested leaping grabs during 1-on-1 work. Chad Beebe worked from the slot in three-receiver packages, while first-round pick Justin Jefferson got most of his reps with the second team. - Rookie Josh Metellus got lots of work with the second team at safety. - Brett Jones took a handful of reps as the first-team center, though Garrett Bradbury’s job is not expected to be in any danger.

Nice little video there with Sam Ekstrom from Zone Coverage of the Day 1 wrap...he had a nice write-up at the Zone Coverage website above and from the video he stated that CB Cam Dantzler and possibly S Josh Metellus both may have an early lead for the annual Mr. Mankato award in terms of rookies that "impressed"...with Gladney out, Dantler slid over to cover the outside WR's in nickel packages while Hughes dropped down to the slot - Ekstrom didn't say exactly how well Cam covered Thielen or Bisi (who started ahead of Justin Jefferson who was working w/ the 2nd team), but he was there nonetheless...
Also interesting that Lynch was with 3rd team DT's rotating in...while we do have a fairly cluttered DT spot behind projected starters Shamar (NT) and Watts (3T), there are a bunch of "ho-hum" type of guys in the interior of our DL that Lynch could possibly leapfrog over if he impresses. It's surprising to me that Watts is rolin' w/ the 1's next to Shamar - I mean; Watts was drafted in the 6th Rd in 2019 while Jaleel Johnson was drafted in the 4th in 2017, and Watts is already slotted ahead of Johnson this early in TC.
I know Ekstrom didn't cover the DE position much, but I did read somewhere that DE Eddie Yarbrough did get plenty of work in. I really liked what I saw out of Yarbrough last season w/ the Bills (preseason and camp, since I tend to follow Buffalo somewhat living in Western NY) and I honestly think he can win a DE rotational dept spot on the 53-man roster over the likes of Holmes and Zettel.
I know some of you are probably saying, "hey, it's still really, really early in Training Camp...whomever is with the 1's right now will probably change as Training Camp progresses"....honestly, I don't think the 1's will drastically change that much. Last season, the 1's were pretty much set at OTA's and by the time we got to TC, we found out that the 1's and even the 2's were really set and the TC and preseason were just battles for depth spots.
Considering that, I'm still very concerned with the interior of both sides of the line of scrimmage - it's just cluttered with either inexperienced guys or less-than-average type of players...especially on the OL: I know Zimmer mentioned that they'll probably rotate the G spots for the first 3 days and see how it shakes out, but seeing Elf movin' over to RG and Dozier actually start at LG is really concerning...

Sam Ekstrom of Zone Coverage has a really nice little write-up of Day 2 practice - that last one without pads: linkIf you don't want to read through his writeup, here's the takeaways: - Secondary was the star of the day w/ Gladney returning to play. Gladney is being trained both inside & outside and moved inside in nickel situations like Hughes does so Dantler goes on the outside. - Defense overall is ahead of offense (not unexpected during Training Camp and almost always happens) - Justin Jefferson was elevated to the 1's for a while - A Collins and Dozier were rotating in at LG - Hunter was out (undisclosed reasons) so J Holmes took snaps w/ the 1's at DE.

V52 - it was this Star Tribune article: linkThe funny thing about this article is it contradicts itself...here's the main summary at the top of the article: The Vikings are hoping a move to right guard will give Pat Elflein’s career the comfort level and kick start it needs after a backward slide the past two years. And here's a quote from Kubiak later on in the article: "I think we’re looking at the big picture. Pat’s a good player. He had a good year."So regardless of how much the coaching staff talks-up Elf, I think the Viking fans and even their beat writers know that Elf is the weakest link on the entire OL. If Samia or someone else can't beat out Elf for the starting RG spot, then I think most of us will have very low expectations when it comes to the interior of our OL.

Thanks uncle for posting the link.... you have a point... but if he can perform a lot better at right guard give him a shot....but if anyone else outperforms and deserves to start. Move elf out. It should always be best man plays, I sure hope our coaching staff can see that. I take it, they see he isn’t doing it elsewhere.
