The Vikings did have a practice on Sunday, even with 8 players out due to the COVID-19 tests...the only report I could find was Ragatz's report at the Vikings SI Insider site: linkPer Ragatz, the 8 players absent from practice due to positive tests are as follows: WR Dillon Mitchell, WR Alexander Hollins, FB C.J. Ham, LB Eric Kendricks, OL Ezra Cleveland, DE Kenny Willekes, TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart, and DE Jalyn Holmes. The coach who missed practice was assistant special teams coach Ryan Ficken. D Hunter also sat out - missing his 7th straight practice - and it's now time to start to be concerned a bit, I think. It seems his injury is more than just a "tweek" as Zimmer has called it. There wasn't much to pass along from Sunday's practice - it basically was a 4th preseason game where the 3rd/4th stringers got starting reps. Here are the only mildly interesting notes: - Eddie Yarbrough is still ahead of Antony Zettel on the DE depth chart - Dozier / Collins still rotating at LG1 - Chad Beebe was returning punts and Abdullah was returning kicks Ragatz also put out another article yesterday in which he listed his Top 5 breakout players so far from TC ( link). They are: - CB Holton Hill - CB Cameron Dantzler - WR Alexander Hollins - DT Jaleel Johnson - RB Mike Boone Honorable Mentions: WR Justin Jefferson, WR Bisi Johnson, DT Armon Watts, C Garrett Bradbury, WR K.J. Osborn, DE Jalyn Holmes, DE Ifeadi Odenigbo, CB Nevelle Clarke

Training Camp Report #9 - taken from Sam Ekstrom's daily writeup at Zone Coverage -( link) As always, if you don't want to click on link, here are the highlights: - Offense is making strides as they build chemistry - Hollins continues making spectacular plays; this time a long bomb down the sideline in 1-on-1 drills against Kris Boyd; Ekstrom noted Hollins has long speed that other Viking WR's don't have - Bisi Johnson not giving an inch to Justin Jefferson for the WR2 job - WR's seemed to outplay CB's - Holton Hill was victimized the most (seems like his 1st "bad" day) - Still no Danielle Hunter; at this point, it is a legit concern as this point - especially with our poor interior DL - Ezra Cleveland was demoted to LG3 as Dozier/Collins are still rotating for LG1; typically, whomever isn't playing LG1 will go down w/ the 3rd team unit but not today. It's clear Cleveland isn't going to win any starting OL jobs - With Hunter out, Kenny Willekes and DJ Wonnum took some 2nd-team reps at defensive end when Jalyn Holmes moved inside and Eddie Yarbrough moved up to the 1's Here are some highlights from Will Ragatz's report from the Viking SI Insider websit ( link): - Also noted Bisi Johnson isn't giving up the WR2 job without a fight - Mentioned Oli Udoh standing out in 1-on-1's w/ OL/DL drills (first time I've seen him mentioned all TC) - KJ Osborn still seems to be the leading candidate for punt return duties - Noted Hollins' strong play again - Beebe got some work in the slot w/ the 1's - Browning had an awful day; misfires and fumbled a handoff (he's fighting w/ Nate Stanley for the QB3 job on the PS) Here are some highlights of Bisi Johnson cementing his WR2 status from Will Ragatz's Twitter:

Training Camp Practice #10 writeup courtesy of Sam Ekstrom at Zone Coverage ( link). Not much to highlight: - Team did intrasquad scrimmaging situations trying to simulate as much of a game as possible - 3rd team offense (led by QB Browning) led that unit to a TD with him throwing one to Tyler Conklin - the first positive notes I've seen about both of them all TC - D Hunter missed his 9th straight practice and it's officially time to be concerned about his availability Wk 1; this seems more than a "tweak" that Zimmer keeps telling us it is - Holton Hill with another rough day in coverage - Dozier getting first looks at LG over Collins Team will do another intrasquad scrimmage on Friday, but this time at US Bank stadium...

Why is this not being reported in here? www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29771509/jaguars-agree-trade-de-yannick-ngakoue-vikingsJaguars agree to trade DE Yannick Ngakoue to Vikings How does everyone feel about this? 2nd rounder and conditional 5th rounder (possibly up to 3rd). Ngakoue is only 25. IMO, this was a big win for the Vikings. My question is, how are the Vikings going to be able to pay him, Cook, and others next year. It looks like it might be a one-year contract to start. Does this mean Cook is on his way out?

I posted it in the “A tweak or not a tweak, that is the question......” thread. While this could spell the end of Cook it leaves me with a bigger question regarding the health of Hunter. Makes me think it’s way more than a tweak.

Makes me think it’s way more than a tweak. My bad. I haven't, didn't, and still don't even see that thread on the main page. I don't look further than the first page on if something has been posted, especially since the news was less than 24 hours old.

I didn't see it either guys...I started a new thread this morning: I think this deserves its own thread because of the significance to the 2020 season and possibly future seasons....
At first glance, I'm not getting this at all and it screams Sam Bradford knee-jerk all over again to me...
Why can't we just take our lumps for one season and leave ourselves in great position for the future? We continually make head-scratching trades like this every so often where we "rob Peter to pay Paul" and it leaves us with a team that's good enough to make the playoffs but is never considered a contender for the Conference or a Lombardi Trophy, and leaves us drafting at the back-end of each round...

If Rick is going to trade picks, wish it would have been for a guard.

Thanks for posting some TC updates. I haven't been keeping up with the last two TC practices....
You have to wonder about Reiff...if we can find a trade partner for him, it might be possible to have O'Neill switch to LT, and Hill start at RT with Udoh waiting in the wings as the backup RT and Cleveland as backup LT...it's risky because O'Neill and Cleveland haven't played LT this TC, but we pretty much know Reiff is a goner in 2021 anyway...if we can recoup a mid-Rd pick now, it's better than outright releasing him and getting nothing...
