I think V52 and I agreed not too long ago that Rahm is a "hothead"...glad to see we're not alone...from Rd 2's ESPN Blog: Might be time to keep an eye on Jon Rahm. He's heated. He was not happy with some movement behind the green at the 14th hole -- a camera person or a volunteer distracted him, led to a poor chip and a bogey. He called out the person, then was talking to a rules official. Rahm's temper causes him problems, so it'll be interesting to see what happens now. This may be sad. But I think I am starting to enjoy watching Rahm lose it and implode. I can find myself cheering for most players having a great tournament.I will cheer for some of my favorites, Webb, Day. DJ,,Thomas, first but arahn I cheer against, kind of enjoy him losing it. But may not fit the gentleman’s game

Rickie Fowler is a younger player who's one of those on the doorstep to winning their 1st major....but he's not playing this weekend, partially because of stuff like this:
For most of us playing a round with buddies, this is no big deal and we just say "gimmie", but you just don't see this sort of stuff from professionals.

The wind is up today, but Tiger has been awful: can't hit fairways and can't hit putts...his 1st Rd seems so long ago now...he'll be vying for a bottom 10 finish on Sunday...
With the wind up, it will be interesting to see who of the leaders handles it the best...
Primetime golf: not much better....

Phil and Tiger in the same sinking boat... maybe they can pull a win or two... but they will string a good day or two of golf. But struggle with 4 consistent, age and injuries for both have done there wear.. just a past thought... I miss Payne Stewart, I have a concrete statue in my front yard, it isn’t Payne but looks like him in his cap

I miss Payne Stewart, I have a concrete statue in my front yard, it isn’t Payne but looks like him in his cap I liked P Stewart, too....loved the "old school" look of the high socks with knickerbockers and the ivy cap - a throwback to the old golf "uniform"...he was competitive but was also known to be a nice guy and unlike Phil (who also seems to be known as a "nice guy", but I tend to think otherwise), he never muttered curse words or complained (Phil always complained about how "unfair" the conditions were at US Open venues - the rough being too high, etc). Phil is actually 50 now and is eligible to start playing on the Champions Tour, aka the "Seniors Tour", and like you mentioned, he's capable to playing well for a few rounds at a PGA Tournament, but it's hard to string 4 competitive rounds together in a single weekend which is why he probably won't be winning many PGA Tour tournaments anymore...I feel like Tiger is a bit more capable still, but he doesn't play enough to keep himself in "playing shape", meaning there's one thing to hit drives and make putts practicing, but it's entirely different in a competitive, tournament environment and Tiger just doesn't play enough of them to get into somewhat of a "groove". It's similar to NFL players; it's one thing to practice in the offseason like Jerry Rice, but there is such a thing as "football shape" and you need those preseason games to get there - the hitting and competitive environment is so different than practice.

Uncle....you may be right about Tiger... not playing enough to stay sharp...
I am no longer his biggest fan although I was for a long time.
I remember seeing him as a very young kid on tv when in a San Diego... I believe under or around ten. Said he couldn’t drive it as far as an adult. But was consistent and able to make par. I remember saying with him even at that age he has a shot at being the best ever.... if he didn’t get burnt out.pretty much came true.
For the longest time there was Tiger, then everyone else. Everyone else played for runner up

LOL a little bit at Justin Thomas on the 5th; after a miss on a relatively short birdie putt - "...you gotta be f***in' kidding me..."....
The ESPN broadcast team: "...I think we all can relate to some frustrations with the game now and then"...
Tiger is having a solid final round: 3-under through 16 and is red figures for the tournament at 1-under...would be important to him to finish the tournament in red figures...

My cable is still out until tomorrow night at best, watched 6 hours of it on my tablet. My only option. I guess without searching for a place. Don’t drink, so wasn’t going to a bar

Major Championship golf in prime-time is solid TV, IMO, even without the fans...
I think at one point, there were 6-7 players tied at 10-under atop the leaderboard on the Back 9 and it doesn't get any closer than that. Morikawa's eagle on the short Par 4 16th was the difference....
...and Morikawa's drive on 16 is one of things I don't like about the current state of golf at the moment: basically the Bryson DeChambeau approach of hitting a big drive of 300+ yards off the tee as far as you can go, regardless of where the ball goes because you've hit it so far down there, you're taking the penalty of hitting it in the rough away because you're so close to the hole that even if it's a bad lie, you're still short enough to hack it on the green. Hitting it in the rough in a Major Championship is supposed to cost golfer a stroke, but more times than not, it doesn't cost them anything. I do realize that Tiger was one of the first golfers to do that but Tiger was also a master of all aspects of the game - driving (far), iron shots, short-game around the green and putting. Today's young stars are all about the power off the tee and because they drive it so far, they don't worry so much about the other aspects.
It was still a good tournament because of the number of players in contention for so long in the final round and it does give hope for the other majors coming up (US Open in September and The Masters in November)....

Pro golfer Bud Cauley - who competed in the PGA Championship at TCP Harding Park in San Francisco this past weekend and finished in a tie for 37th place at 1-under par - didn't really have nice words to say about the Golden Gate City: “Tpc Harding is a great golf course but you can have the rest of that place. My car window got busted in yesterday, in the middle of a busy street and someone stole my backpack. i called 911 and couldn’t get a police officer to come because they were so overworked with crime,” Cauley wrote.
