No. 9 – Par 4
One last drive, one last fairway. He’s nearly 200 out for his approach and hit a solid shot to the middle of the green.
One last birdie? Well, it’s not to be. A pedestrian par leaves Tiger at 2-under 68, and for now, inside the top 20.
TIGER ON THE DAY: 2-under 68

Watched Tiger's bogey on 8 (his 17th) and the par on 18....looked comfortable driving it on the fairway on 9 (his 18th) and from the highlights of other golfers, you need to hit the fairways...Justin Rose was the only one who didn't pay the price as he only hit 3 fairways and still finished 4-under, 1 off the early lead of 5-under by Jason Day... Tiger shot better than I thought he would today, and if the lead stays at -5, he'll be within that 2-3 strokes I think he needs to be... Just get to -5 tomorrow and then set himself up for a low Rd on Saturday "Moving Day" to get into the final couple groups for a shot on Sunday...he doesn't have to be in the final pairing (I don't believe he was at the 2019 Masters) but he needs to be in one of the final groups and he'll need to get to -10 or so by the end of Saturday to get in that position... I'm seeing the winning score somewhere around -13/-14 if the wind isn't too bad the next couple days...if the wind off the Bay really picks up, then you won't see too many double-digits... Another thing I'm seeing are many putts going way by - pros are having trouble reading the speed of greens I guess... Tiger had many birdie chances early and late. Easily had 3 more. Bodes well since he’s rusty and should be better on Fri.

Bodes well since he’s rusty and should be better on Fri. He mentioned in his post-round interview with Tom Ronaldi that the winds are expected to pick up the next few days which is this golf course's defense...I wonder if Tiger plays more stinging 3-Woods off the tee to 1) keep it in the fairway as much as possible, and 2) keep the ball low and out of the wind....this course does seem to have some links-style roll so instead of trying to bomb tee-shots, I think it'll be smart if he plays below the wind and roll it down the fairway...

His other playing partner - Justin Thomas, World's #1 and someone I thought would win this week - didn't have a good day and finished over par I believe; Tiger was the low score of the group.
LOL @ Bryson snapping his driver after a drive...he's lucky that a local rule allows him to replace the club...

With all other sports going “woke” its nice to have a good ole fashioned sporting event focused on what else, sports! This will be one of the top sports events of year for me along with Masters and maybe college football. Players doing what they do best without kneeling and tons of pol, go figure.

I have tomorrow off and look forward to settling into my couch and watching live sports. As a golfer this means a lot to me. I haven't even played a round yet this year because of work schedules and arthritis flare ups. Maybe get to play Saturday. We'll see.

I think V52 and I agreed not too long ago that Rahm is a "hothead"...glad to see we're not alone...from Rd 2's ESPN Blog:
Might be time to keep an eye on Jon Rahm. He's heated. He was not happy with some movement behind the green at the 14th hole -- a camera person or a volunteer distracted him, led to a poor chip and a bogey. He called out the person, then was talking to a rules official. Rahm's temper causes him problems, so it'll be interesting to see what happens now.

Watched a good chunk of the 2nd Rd and Tiger just couldn't make a putt within 10' on Friday...he hit fairways and his approaches were Ok, but couldn't drain the birdie putts...
The other unusual thing for Tiger is that he's 0-4 or 0-5 (or something like that) on sand saves this week, and he's usually great at getting up-and-down from the sand...
If he doesn't go really low on Saturday (and I'm talking probably a 64), then I can't see him in contention on Sunday.

Don’t see it but if he can shoot a -6 today then his confidence will be high. I just don’t see it.

I heard tiger was using a longer putter to help his putting, also make it easier on his surgically repaired back..sounds like an excuse to cover Tigers struggles...I do not hear them talk about phil’s Rhumatoric hands and body except in commercials, nor how about Jason Day and his bad back.is that why they struggle. I know Tigeris and has been great for the games look at him as maybe the best. No doubt with out the back injury he probably would still dominate... just not a fan of his, I have no problem seeing someone else win.

V52 - Jason Day does have a bad back but he's played really well through the first 2 days and is tied for 2nd at -6, only 2 strokes back of the leader at -8. You can tell he's hurting because he "gingerly" bends down to pick up the ball when he marks or sinks his putts and picks up his tee after a drive.
Also, Brooks Koepka has had some issues with his body this year and the cameras showed his caddie working on his legs between holes yesterday.
Honestly, I think the human body can only take so much winding-up/contorting to generate power before ligaments and things start to go...most of these guys are going to be taking painkillers/meds to deal w/ their backs/ligaments for a long time after their playing career is done...they'll be wealthy, for sure, but at what cost?

But I think I am starting to enjoy watching Rahm lose it and implode. I can find myself cheering for most players having a great tournament. Raymond I cheer against.
