Vikings’ lack of new outside veterans may be tipping their hand link

tipping their hand to what? What a terrible headline for what was nothing more than a FA recap/roster review.
To me they seem to be setting up to spend money on QB, whether its Sam, Teddy, or both. I think with the unknown it's a wise move, maybe even planning on using the carry-over for next year IF they need to carry both.

Whenever I see articles on teams wanting to get younger I always think back to the George Allen Washington Redskin teams that had the nickname "The Over The Hill Gang". The teams average age was 31, and if I remember correctly they had a couple of years when they were pretty damn good, for old men

I agree w/ Nodak in that it's not a good article and just seems to be grasping at something to fill a void.
I mean, when you start citing Jeff Locke as a "key player" to the Vikings special teams (as an example of a "veteran"), yikes....this is coming fresh off of a season where we just cast aside another "veteran" kicker in Blair Walsh who was drafted (and extended) and finally fired, and then the Front Office just signed the best available off the street to fill the void (Kai) and he did. It didn't matter if Kai was a rookie or a veteran - you just find a guy to do the job and that's it.
And while the author presents examples such as Alexander taking over a "veteran" role held by Captain to further the "youth movement", there are counters to that opinion in T Newman once again manning the outside secondary and "veteran" FA signings such as D Jones and L Murray.
I don't think the Vikings are looking to necessarily "get young" as much as looking to "get better"....

Funny. I was going to post the same thing today. By and large, we let a lot of tier 2 players walk...some were still young (like Patterson and Locke), some were older. The only one I would have personally liked to keep was Captain. I would have liked to keep Patterson as well...but it was a little "too little..too late" with him outside of KR. We'll fill some of the spots with other Vets that hopefully make us better as a team...so once again...not necessarily younger. Some players like Line still being unsigned potentially reflect a change in philosophy not a move to youth.
