I have an issue w/ the 2nd paragraph of this article...stating that Matt Kalil, Audie Cole, Charles Johnson & Andre Smith were "valuable contributors" that have moved on is quite the stretch.

Nobody on a national level pays attention to the Vikings. Nobody... Maybe because every time we're remotely relevant suddenly we're not. 5-0 start crappy finish. Sheeeeesh! It really is tough being a Vikings fan. Not for the weak.

None of this hopes up, hopes smashed, crap every year.

I don't think we're going to be going into the 2017 season w/ the same "hype" we had going into the 2016 season (prior to Teddy's injury). The Viking's were definitely a sexy pic in the media to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, and that reflected in our prime-time schedule: 2 early games out of our first 5 on prime-time TV (vs. Green Bay and vs. NYG), and then additional national TV games at Philly, vs Chicago (MNF), vs. Detroit (Thanksgiving) and vs Dallas on Thursday Night.
Now that we don't have a marketable "face" of the team on the national stage (no more AP, and Bradford isn't a household "franchise" QB that will be appearing in the opening monologue of Sunday Night Football) and the fact we didn't make the playoffs the prior season, we'll get 2 national TV games (one Thurs night game and another MNF game), if you don't count the London game vs. the Browns. We probably won't be the sexy pic in the NFC as Atlanta and Dallas have established themselves as the cream of the NFC crop, with Tampa Bay and/or the NYG being the "sexy pic" in the NFC this coming season.

I'm ok with a softer schedule and less hype for the team (and National games). It lets us fly under the radar a little. The big question will be how quickly the O-line can gel as a unit. Sparano is going to earn his keep this year.

I think everyone will be earning their keep this year. A very mediocre year (7-9, 8-8) without the injuries we had last season just won't cut the mustard and will put the Front Office and Zimmer directly on the hot seat and quite possibly both could be gone at the beginning of 2018.
And some players will certainly be earning their keep, as well. Floyd, Barr, Treadwell are some of the bigger names aside from the 1-yr deal we gave to Jones, but even some of the younger players drafted in prior years (Brothers, Morgan, Ed Robinson, etc) need to step up and play larger roles.
