I don’t know what the answer is with social media companies or for the other media. A free press is vital to our democracy and as such it enjoys wide latitude and privileges. But the press isn’t free anymore. It’s now used as a propaganda arm for whatever flavor billionaire owns it and they use it to further their empire, not for the good of the citizenry. I think it’s time to break up and regulate these outlets. If you want to own a media company you don’t get to own anything else? It doesn’t sound workable but I don’t know what another solution would be. I agree with breaking them up but disagree with regulating them. There should be more stringent restrictions on mergers and acquisitions going forward. Every time anybody develops anything to challenge google or Facebook they are bought up. Regulating them just means putting more politicians and bureaucrats in charge and we know how that ends-bribes, payoffs, donations, kick backs etc, etc, etc,.... The more options people have the more self regulating they have to be for broad appeal. I think you have to regulate them requiring free speech, fair rules for both side. and preventing intrusive privacy violations. Right now the many problems coming to light with twitter is just one example. This shadow banning should be outlawed, its deceitful.

This is where its dangerous (censoring) and where you will find real collusion: This is exactly what is wrong with no regulations. No one wants it but it’s past the point of being needed. They did it to themselves.

They did it to themselves. Sadly the same could be said about a lot of businesses and industries in America, but then we would be considered Democrats or even libs....but this is hardly the first industry to take advantage of limited govt regulation.

This is Sanders new spokesman (from Venazuella lol). Looks like Twitter deleted a bunch of jos tweets to help Bernie out.
Folks need to see how they are shapping elections by hiding and deleting and censoring certain people.

Sure it can be said of anything. But one is used as part of our free press vital to our nation. As such they are given wide latitude and discretion. They know it and have abused it generating a not insignificant advantage for one political side. Not even close to what the founding fathers have in mind. And because it is electronic it is often hidden. Life you want to be available to the public as a communication tool, and get rich doing it, then some rules need to apply.

Thats wrong and regardless of going elsewhere as a publisher they can’t ban one segment and not the other. Wrong is wrong regardless.

Newspapers pick and choose what editorials get printed. All media puts spin on their reporting to shape stories to their general learnings. Bias is everywhere in media and nothing is done....this is no different. However people want to classify Twitter I fail to see how they are doing anything more egregious than many other information sharing forms of media. I don't know why I find myself defending Twitter as I personally hate the shit, it typically shows the worst in people.

We can try to control it if we are honest but we can never stop all of it. I can accept that. It's the outright lies that anger me. We've seen supposed "news" sources outright staging news. It's just gotten so out of control. And people believe it. That's the scary thing. We can't yell FIRE in a theater because it's a lie that can get people hurt. What we are seeing in the media today is akin to yelling FIRE in a theater. Some how, some way it needs to be reigned in. And I totally get why it's such a scary proposition but the alternative is worse imo.

This I get..but then why target one source like they are the root of it...due every media platform that is showing bias or at least create some separation definitions between news agencies and editorial shit.

That is a major difference.
