TGD maximum is 181 meters with dam collapse threshold 185 meters so still a ways to go (20+ meters). Failure would be catastrophic!

TGD maximum is 181 meters with dam collapse threshold 185 meters so still a ways to go (20+ meters). Failure would be catastrophic! Thats their claim. Its been pushed hard for 2 months and may have weak spots showing up. The huge inflow pits pressure on it too with the rush of water being so big. The more valves they open expose potential of cavitation from constant pressure of 2 months. It has trees growing in it too. This will be the test. If it gets to 170-175 thats a lot of constant pressure. Its likely to survive but being its the 4th flood one does wonder if its up for it.

If one of those up-basin dams broke, that would likely do it.

Wow Three Gorges Dam (TGD) is moving up fast. They have 23 gate sluices they can open but that floods downstream too.
