Floyd can sit on his couch for the next 12 months w/ $6.7m in his bank account and the Vikes can do nothing about it. I mean, it's in his best intention to get back on the field and play at a high level this season if he wants to get anything next offseason, but if his intention to collect as much as he can with little effort, then the Vikings are big losers because that $6.7m could go to better use this offseason to players who actually want to contribute on the field.
Plus, let's admit it, Floyd hasn't played NFL football since 2015 - he basically missed all of 2016, so he's going to have to get back into football shape and it will probably be until the middle of the season until he makes any sort of impact - that's if he can actually play a full 16-game schedule which seems very unlikely given his history.
Rick really loves his 1st Rd picks due to that 5th yr option, but we're seeing now that decision is biting us in the butt a little bit. Interesting decision on Barr and Teddy this May after the Draft.
