First of all, even if we miss out on landing a top-shelf LT (or RT... or OG), we still have the draft coming up. And we have the ammunition to move up into the first round to get a LT (if we feel that we need to).
We also have some guys on the roster already that- I think- can be (at the very least) adequate at our missing positions. I've always been on the Sirles bandwagon. With more time and coaching, he MIGHT be able to hold that spot down. Clemmings could go back to RT (where he wasn't too bad before). I like our options at center... with one of them (Berger, Kerin or Easton) giving RG a shot. It might be horrible... but they all might be OK. We've never tried those players before (other than Clemmings at RT), so we don't know. Although the coaches probably have a better idea than me...
Finally, there are still some decent players out there. If we miss out on them (because we did not want to overpay), then we go back to Plans A & B (above).

I've got to disagree Pumpf. The Vikings being in this situation of basically having nothing as far as quality offensive line players is embarrassing and laughable. Wasn't last years draft suppose to have been loaded with lineman? and all the Vikes end up with is leave it to Beavers..... This falls on Spielman and Zimmer. The Vikes are looking for what, three starters, four if Berger retires? And at this moment we have no running game, or starting running back for that matter....(and no, IMO, McKinnon is not the answer)

This Draft is loaded at depth in several key positions - RB, WR, Secondary positions, G and even some solid depth at DT....this is the draft to hoard a bunch of 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks - not trade them up. There aren't alot of blue-chippers like Garrett - once you get past the first few, the drop-off from the mid-1st talent level to the 3rd round isn't that much....
Add that to the widely-held opinion among many draft experts and fans that there isn't any OT in this draft that can start right out of the box like Stanley, Conklin & Decker from last year and you don't have an ideal situation to trade back into the 1st or early 2nd for an OT who won't help a great deal immediately.
The Vikes were taken advantage of by Philadelphia for needing a QB at the last moment, and it's costing us a bit this offseason. But please, I'm not in favor of trading away even more picks for guys who aren't even as sure as the 1st Rd OT prospects last year.
The OL rebuild isn't going to happen all in one offseason so I'm really hoping Rick doesn't trade the future in a desperate attempt to save his job.

With 3 or 4 new starters the line won't gell for a long time no matter how good the players are.
I don't expect much from this season.

Too early to know if all is lost but there is NO excuse not to spend on at least one top shelf player and add at least one more starter caliber lineman before the draft. No reason at all.

All may not be lost but....it's not looking to swell either.

Last season I wasn't all that impressed. This. It was extremely disappointing last year... and not sure it will be much better this year with new players.... hopefully the coaches can get their message thru during offseason activities and training camp.
