Huskers went scorched earth: The State of Nebraska Just Declared War on the Big Ten by Ryan Glasspiegel about 3 hours agoupdated about an hour ago 9 The Big Ten finds itself in numerous legal entanglements related to its decision to postpone the Fall football season. Eight Nebraska football players sued the conference, which compelled the Big Ten to reveal its 11-3 vote of university chancellors and presidents. A judge has given the Big Ten until September 12th to provide more documents in that case. Lee Chatfield, the Speaker of the House in Michigan, wrote a letter to the Big Ten asking it to reconsider their decision. It was co-signed by politicians from Iowa, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Ohio. Ohio’s attorney general has said Ohio State could sue the conference. Now, Nebraska’s attorney general Douglas J. Peterson wrote a very ominous letter to Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren. Peterson stated that the conference does not appear to have the proper registration to operate as a non-profit in Nebraska, asked the Big Ten to either prove that it is registered or explain why it is not, and requested documents of the bylaws and for evidence that the bylaws were followed in postponing the season. The letter also asks for documentation of all of the medical information that the Big Ten relied upon in making its decision. The attorney general says that the Big Ten must provide this information no later than September 21st. Here is the full letter: www.outkick.com/the-state-of-nebraska-just-declared-war-on-the-big-ten/

Holy shit batman A good chunk of that has to do w/ the teams - BYU and Navy, while fine football programs, are not national "marquee" football programs....in previous years, you had FSU, Tenn (which is still a national program thanks to P Manning back in the day), Ohio St, Virginia Tech and Miami.... Last night's clunker of Miami vs UAB might have even beaten out BYU/Navy just for the fact that Miami was on TV...

So why the change in tone from the BIG10 from spring football to mid-Oct? Lawsuits? Initial medical data not good? Pressure from players? Loss of revenue too great to bear (ie, money above safety/health)? Falling COVID-19 infections/deaths? Curious about the PAC-12 or if they'll just sit this season out anyway...

The west coast states are still in nazi lockdown unless you are burning, looting or murdering. No way they play, after all, they must put politics over people Trying to figure out how Big10 would still be eligible for natty? They will be about 4-5 games short of Big12 and even Sec/acc.

Rumor is that a number of the power schools in the conference were ready to file lawsuits, with a date to deliver the documents in like two weeks. The suit was going to demand medical information as to why they canceled or postponed the season. The suit was going to include players and parents. The pressure to produce got the BIG commissioner to say ok maybe we rushed to judgement. Not saying this was the reason to reconsider just what is being reported by some media outlets. I lost the actual articles so can't post them.

It was purely politics, he felt keeping people from enjoyment would make them vote blue. These lefties are sick

I mean to make a decision just to hopefully hurt Trump and shut down college sports is so pathetic. Look at the Big 12 conference, they are playing. Iowa State played Louisiana and both teams passed covid tests and they played like normal except there were no fans in the stands but to think the BIG isn't playing is just unthinkable. Play the damn games and screw Warren and his attempt to damage Trump agenda.
