Damn. That gave me chills. Such Brave Men. Nothing like the 18 year olds we have today..... If one likes to geek out this is a great narrated video showing how bad we did at Midway at first. Don’t want to spoil the ending but we lost some good people. Side note, my old squadron has lineage back to this battle. If you see Felix The Cat on the side of planes thats it. VF-3 and VF-6. Hoping the movie depicts the logo correctly. We always lose good people. 😓

My Dad was a WWII Marine that fought in Guadalcanal. Its funny, Everyone knows what went on at Pearl Harbor and Midway. But I remember being a kid and helping out my dad at the VFW and hearing all the stories of how bad Guadalcanal really was in comparison to the other more famous battles. My dad never spoke of the war, only with his buddies at the VFW and only when I wasnt around. Sadly my dad died when I was still in high school, I got all of his Military Records, Honorable Discharge papers, and a few other things that I wish to just keep to myself Thanks for sharing. My Dad was also at Guadalcanal (although Army). Similar story. He never talked about the war to us kids. He had shared with my Mother that on one patrol (not sure if that's the right word), half the guys didn't return alive. Dad was a bit older so served as a staff sergeant. I think by volunteering he had some options on where he would be assigned. South Pacific likely sounded "nice." I have his small journal. They spent a lot of time waiting in New Zealand, which sounded a bit like heaven. Hunting, hanging out, some good times. Turned to Hell overnight when they were thrown into combat. I believe he fought on a number of islands in the South Pacific. He died young as well. I'm sure that war took decades off his life. My sisters are hanging on to his war stuff, which is really just fine with me.

A couple is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes their lost. They spot a man down below and shout, “Excuse me, can you tell me where we are?”
The man below says, “Yes, you’re in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field.”
“You must work in Information Technology,” says the balloonist.
“I do,” replies the man. “How did you know?”
“Everything you have told me is technically correct, and yet it’s of no use to anyone.”
The man below says, “You must work in management.”
“We do. How did you know?”
“Well, you don’t know where you are, or where you’re going, but you expect me to be able to help, and you’re in the same position as you were before we met, but now it’s my fault.”

It’s a 5 minute walk from my house to the pub.
It’s a 35 minute walk from the pub to my house.
The difference is staggering.

A man owned a small ranch in Montana. The Montana Labor Department got a tip that he was not paying proper wages to his help and sent an investigator out to interview him.
"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the investigator.
"Well," replied the rancher, "there's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years. I pay him $1200 a week plus free room and board. The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $1000 per week plus free room and board. Then there's the half-wit. He works about 18 hours a day, with no days off, and does about 90% of all the work around here. He makes about $10 per week and pays his own room and board. But, I buy him a bottle of bourbon every Saturday night, and once in a great while he sleeps with my wife."
"Really?! THAT'S the guy I want to talk to!" says the investigator.
"That IS the guy you're talking to." replied the rancher.

First day as a police officer...
Captain: "Why did you call for back up?"
Me: "There was a fly in my car."
S.W.A.T. Team Leader: "What exactly do you think we do?"
