People do not realize how big a deal this is. Its as big if not bigger than what Reagan did regarding USSR/Cold War. China has beeb raping us and quietly building military and infrastructure off our backs (and pols) for decades. Finally someone who is trying to undo at least some of that.

I'm worried that the cheap crap I buy at Wal*Mart might not be so "cheap" anymore... All that cheap crap was stolen off the backs of American manufacturing who had been competing against unfair trade and labor for decades. I agree to a great degree. I would rather be able to afford a couple of pair of new jeans and see my countrymen working than buy all the $20 pairs I want. This is a bit of an overstatement and I am not against trade but when that trade is with a country who's goal is to crush democracy then yea I'll pay more. I do think trade is needed and valuable when equitable and there are plenty of countries we could trade more with. If the Central American countries could get their act together business would invest in infrastructure there, helping solve the immigration problem and our China trade imbalance problem at the same time. It's a big IF given the narco states many of them have become. I wonder how Costa Rica seems to stay out of that death spiral.

And more manufacturing here will increase wages. Also agree about CA countries. We will likely move lots to Vietnam or like countries, with some coming home. Thing is for China, once manufacturing gets moved its not going back anytime soon. To move it to other countries those factories will require long term contracts to make it worthwhile and set up shipping. So once moved it likely just stays there. If I need 10,000,000 jeans made per year the plant has to have a long term contract to ramp up to those levels. They won’t do 6 months and call it a day while you move it back to China. So the longer this goes the more long term loss for China as well. Glad Trump is doing this its long overdue!

Any company worth its salt was already making backup plans. Plus a lot of companies have production in other countries and will just increase.

So the longer this goes the more long term loss for China as well. Glad Trump is doing this its long overdue! Agree, am willing to pay more if it helps. This entire country is going to get a wake up call and it is going to hurt. A LOT. With ever increasing pressure on companies to keep earnings on track, all these costs are going to be passed on to consumers. And you will all be shocked at how high a cost this is going to be. So the longer this goes the more long term loss for China as well. That is the X factor in all of this. There is NO LIMIT to the pain the communist government in China is willing to inflict on its own people. Believe you me, Americans will be banging on Trumps door with their $50 dollar wedges that now cost $62.50 long before China relents to any dissent it may face. We vote our pocketbook and if this plays out the way I think it will, it will be a huge loss for Americans.

What wedge are you buying for under 50? Couldn’t buy one for 50$ American in shit hole Mexico. LOL. I see shitty golfers with thousands of dollars worth of golf clubs in their cart and still can't shoot under 100. I paid 250 for all the clubs I own and I have a 4 handicap.
