I can speak for me anyway, I don’t ever sit before a game comes on in baited anticipation for the anthem. But if it ever comes on I watch, I stop talking, and I listen and watch everyone watching the flag.
And during the Olympics it NEVER gets old and I usually get geared up. Yes the anthem means a lot to me. So does the flag. But I also support those who don’t want to either.

So you think black people are the only race in this world that are "less fortunate"? Only "black lives matter", right? They are the only race that is being disgraced against in today's world, right? Your "brothers" as you say. How so exactly? The athletes speaking out have worked very hard to get to where they are and they know the sacrifice it takes to get to the level they are playing, no matter where they came from. But those who won't work that hard and choose to take a different path, should be coddled and cared for, just because they are black, no matter the strain that puts on the economy and the hard-working Americans? But it's ok that the latinos, caucasians, asians, etc that are less fortunate continue to suffer because they aren't black and since they don't have a movement for them? We are talking about a league that is isolating one race and choosing to succumb to the stupidity of this BLM movement, without fully understanding it and deciding that they will play a Black National Anthem to make everyone feel better, as if it that makes it all better... Are you serious? Do you see how that is actually the opposite of what should be happening? If there is truly a race issue, then why don't the black athletes just sit out and not play the sports they play for a living to boycott the disgrace their brothers and you feel until it gets fixed. If they feel so disgraced, why don't they just spend their days working to fix it instead of playing games? Maybe they should read more, like Lebrainiac reading Malcom X's book to assist in change and equality. And you act like Trump is the problem for the pure lunacy that has transpired. Did you live under a rock for the 8 years prior to 2016? How did your so-called "brother" [Obama] help the black communities? How did he help his home city, Chicago? Have you been closed-minded for the last 3.5 years and falling into the left media trap? I know you are more open-minded and quite intelligent actually. What have the Dems and the media done to help Trump? Hell, what have the republicans done to help him? Has Trump exposed the failed and shady political system and they are all doing what they can to stop him from succeeding and getting this country out of the dumpster fire it has been spiraling into? Is it a bad thing to want our president to succeed and help our country? It sure seems like it. Is he perfect? Hell no...who is? Is he looking out for him or his country? Ton of shit to unpack here so I quoted you many time. Sue me. So you think black people are the only race in this world that are "less fortunate"? Only "black lives matter", right? They are the only race that is being disgraced against in today's world, right? Your "brothers" as you say. How so exactly? Clearly they are not the only ones. But they clearly suffer more and face far more challenges and judgments. White's abuse of welfare is a problem as well and they are not subject to the discrimination and hatred minorities(of all stripes) are in this country. Deny it all you want, that is a fact. But whites are given a pass and only illegals and "fatherless minorities are attacked for their dereliction of "effort". The athletes speaking out have worked very hard to get to where they are and they know the sacrifice it takes to get to the level they are playing, no matter where they came from. No doubt. I was not the one who said they are coddled all their lives. Talk to Dan about this point. But those who won't work that hard and choose to take a different path, should be coddled and cared for, just because they are black, no matter the strain that puts on the economy and the hard-working Americans? Who says they don't work hard? Who says they had every opportunity and wasted it? WASPS and FoxNews sells that shit all day everyday to pass benefits cuts to pad their pockets further. They sell that bill of goods to more than just you. You have to fool more than 35% of the population to continue to sell that snake oil. Believe me. But it's ok that the latinos, caucasians, asians, etc that are less fortunate continue to suffer because they aren't black and since they don't have a movement for them? No it's not okay. But that does not make it wrong for a few black athletes to speak out for blacks either. I am pretty sure they would not tell latino, caucasian or asian celebrities to shut up and dribble, you know, like we do. We are talking about a league that is isolating one race and choosing to succumb to the stupidity of this BLM movement, without fully understanding it and deciding that they will play a Black National Anthem to make everyone feel better, as if it that makes it all better... What is the big deal? You can't even give them that? You DEMAND they stand and respect your shit and lose your fucking mind that they want something for themselves? Why? They are not demanding you stand and respect their shit. They will not boycott your bullshit if you take a knee to protest their shit. You don't even see the hypocrisy in your anger and demands. then why don't the black athletes just sit out and not play the sports they play for a living to boycott the disgrace their brothers and you feel until it gets fixed. That would just be dumb. Give up their platform. Protest at a game as a celebrity and you hate America. Protest in the streets as a nobody you are a rioter and a thug. It is a no win for them and you know it. You know deep down in your heart. You said it yourself. SHUT UP. Just shut up. No matter what they do or how they do it, you will hate it. That has been made clear here. And you act like Trump is the problem for the pure lunacy that has transpired. I don't believe I mentioned Trump once in this tet'a'tet. How did your so-called "brother" [Obama] help the black communities? Irrelevant. Trump was gonna fix everything. Remember? I do. We were told over and over and over and over and over what Obama didn't do and what he did wrong and Trump was going to fix this shit. Don't lie and say that was not the case. Now look at what we are arguing about. It appears you all will always have the "what about" arguments to fall back on when the Fake News chant doesn't work. How convenient, no thinking, no blame, no solutions. I so badly want to live in the conservative world where it is never our fault, we are never as bad as that other guy, and we don't have to support or think about anything. Has Trump exposed the failed and shady political system and they are all doing what they can to stop him from succeeding and getting this country out of the dumpster fire it has been spiraling into? LOL. Hell no. He IS the swamp. If you cannot see this, you are hopeless. But don't despair, you are right there with approximately 30% of this country. Is he looking out for him or his country? For him. Definitely, unequivocally, undeniably for him and only for him. Do you truly believe what you are writing or just what you see on CNN and other media outlets that despise our current president and push their faulty agendas to divide our country further? " Clearly they are not the only ones. But they clearly suffer more and face far more challenges and judgments. (do they or is it only what we see and hear?) White's abuse of welfare is a problem as well and they are not subject to the discrimination and hatred minorities(of all stripes) are in this country. Deny it all you want, that is a fact. (Prove it). But whites are given a pass and only illegals and "fatherless minorities are attacked for their dereliction of "effort"." (this is just a silly statement; besides two parent homes are far more successful than single parent homes). Just take a look at the disparity by race and we wonder why the crime is higher for certain races:
datacenter.kidscount.org/data/tables/107-children-in-single-parent-families-by-race#detailed/1/any/false/37,871,870,573,869,36,868,867,133,38/10,11,9,12,1,185,13/432,431

African Americans are the only race to continue to talk about "racial issues" over and over again. How can something ever be removed if it keeps getting brought up and shown in everyone's face? How often does something fizzle in society. Think of music...the "one hit wonders". While it's a poor example in comparison, the point remains that if you stop talking about something, it tends to fade away... Here, I'll let Morgan Freeman prove that point further, since he states it better than I ever could. Take a listen and hear it for yourself. He unpacks quite a bit in this small little segment. Maybe you didn't state Trump, so my apologies for bringing it into my rebuttal, but I recall a reason for adding it last night to which I can no longer remember, so I will leave those comments alone for now. There will always be the exception to every rule and outliers everywhere that ruin it for the majority.

I railed against professional athletes pretending they aren't amongst a very select group of very privileged persons on this earth pretending they are standing up against privilege. I didn't mention race because there are white and black players planning to kneel during the anthem (many other other races in other sports). It wasn't a relevant factor except to you. There are any number of companies I don't buy from because their CEO's support left wing causes. I didn't bother to look up the CEO's races, since you seem so concerned maybe you could make me a list. It won't matter to me but maybe it will fit your worldview better by accusing me of something I didn't do. You bet shut up and and dribble, catch, kick etc etc...I pay to watch sports not someone denigrate the flag and spread political messages. They can do as they please when they aren't on the field, that's the same freedom afforded all of us and whether I like it or not I support anyone's right to peacefully protest on their own time. It would be the same sentiment if I walked into a place of business with an anti 2nd amendment or pro abortion sticker in the window. I pay for the goods and services at that business not to hear their personal politics. As for you telling me to shut up, please, I know your as tough as they come on an internet board but I think I'll take my chances and post as I see fit. pretending they aren't amongst a very select group of very privileged persons on this earth pretending they are standing up against privilege. That is not at all why they are taking a knee. Try understanding what you are hating so much. It will give you more credibility. They have so many avenues to impact this situation and showing off their wokeness by taking a knee has got to be one of the most self serving and least impactful ways to do it. It's like wearing the lapel pin of the day at a hollywood award show. Look at me, I care so deeply. It wasn't a relevant factor except to you Umm. It's relevant to them, that's why they are doing it. That is the root of the problem. I know you are not racist and I know you don't discriminate, but again, please understand the issue you are so vehemently against. Not against their right to be involved in whatever issue they like but not when I am paying to watch them play. I don't need their politics and I definitely don't want to watch someone disrespect our nation and our flag that represents it.I didn't bother to look up the CEO's races, since you seem so concerned maybe you could make me a list. I will just tell you very few(fewer than national averages) minority CEOs. I know, shocking. .I pay to watch sports not someone denigrate the flag and spread political messages. So just do that. Skip what you hate so much and watch what you enjoy. Exactly how does this distract so much from what you actually enjoy. Tell the truth, you NEVER actually watched the national anthem before you heard some black guy was protesting did you? I can tell you I didn't. I didn't give a shit about it. I was peeing while the national anthem played so I wouldn't have to miss any of the game. After all, that is what I tuned in for. If you tell me that you honestly watched the national anthem before every game, I will take you at your word and apologize. I have always waited and stood for the anthem at every sporting event I have attended live. You bet I watch it on tv when I start the game on time. I enjoy the emotion that most people have as the song ends and the game gets ready to start. There is also no chance I have watched it for every game, not even close I am sure. I support anyone's right to peacefully protest on their own time. Sorry buddy. Not for you to decide. Free country, you know, freedom. Which you claim to be so important to you. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean everyone else has to listen to you or follow your little wants and needs. Well "buddy" it is for me to decide whether to spend my money on it. That's the little bit of power I as a consumer do have. No one else has to listen to anything I say. I have freedom of speech not a right to be heard, the left would do well to remember that. Just because you guys are more emotional and louder doesn't mean people have to listen to you.I pay for the goods and services at that business not to hear their personal politics. But I bet you supported the baker who refused to bake a cake for a gay wedding. Tell me I am wrong. I'll bet you are willing to hear certain politics, but no others. Equal rights for some, no rights for others. I would bet my house on it. Well sort of I guess. I think what they did was wrong. I think they have a religious right to refuse service but I think it's wrong on a moral and financial basis. For the life of me I can't understand why any gay couple would want to buy from them. I have two conservative friends both with gay sons and a very good friend of my wife and myself who is gay. I wouldn't support any business I thought was anti gay. They have a right to be treated the same as you and I.I know your as tough as they come on an internet board but I think I'll take my chances and post as I see fit. Thanks for not getting the gist of my making that statement and trying to make me out like some bully like you are. I was trying to twist words said here to make you see what it was like being told to just shut up for saying what you believe. I wasn't actually trying to tell you to shut up. A lot can be lost in translation on internet board, but I thought it was pretty clear what I was trying to convey. Sorry for confusing you. And yes, I am as tough as the come. On the internet and in person. Just saying. You missed the point. I have not said the players should shut up. I just asked for them to keep their politics out of football which is the same standard I ask of any business. They can be as loud as they want off the field. In fact if they got involved on a community level they could probably be a great bridge to help people understand the issues they claim to care so deeply about. As it is they are just driving people away just like the violent protestors. It isn't helping it's just making themselves the center of attention.
LOL, well someday I can tell the grandkids I went keyboard to keyboard with one of the toughest hombres on the internet......

These athletes are for equality and fairness eh? Ok, lets see them prove it. LBJ and others can ask their coach to get no more minutes than the last guy on the bench. They can also ask the GM to give everyone on the team the same pay.

I don't follow the NBA (or this thread much), but I now see that there are NBA players threatening to boycott their playoffs. Is this "cancel culture" or "cancel paycheck?" In most jobs, if we don't show up for work, the paychecks stop and we're out on our a$$es. Is there "systemic racism" in the NBA? Is the wealth spread equally?

My apologies for the duplication...when I refreshed the page, the post above from uncle was not there...it may have something to do with the recent post by VH mentioning the Twitter posts are having issues with the site. And it just gets crazier. www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29747523/bucks-not-taking-court-game-5-vs-magicBucks boycotting Game 5 vs. Magic to protest shooting of Jacob Blake Well, maybe they saw my post on page 2 and thought it was a better idea than throwing all the crap on the jerseys, the floor, media, etc. I would expect them to forfeit the entire series and be done playing for the year so that they can go to the forefront and help spread the message to the Jacob Blake's of the world, that it's not okay to have a rap sheet and disobey cops when they ask specifically for cooperation. Why is this message so hard?

From my vantage point of really not caring about the NBA too much (even way before the pandemic), the NBA could forfeit the remainder of the season and next year's season and it wouldn't bother me one it...
The crazy thing is people are jumping to conclusions like this before all the facts are known about that incident...in the other high-profile incidents such as this earlier this year, I believe the officers were fired and/or arrested within a day or two and in this particular incident, the officers involved are still under investigation...we still don't know the results of that investigation and whether or not the force used by the officers was justified or not...
What's even crazier to me is how sports players forfeit games over alleged police brutality (when we don't know if it was police brutality or not) and then you don't hear one peep out of them over the brazen murder of a 5-yr in North Carolina the other week which was about as heinous an act as you'll ever see...

Because they are uneducated and because they only read the first couple pages of books...see Lebrainiac. Oh and because they are of the "victim mindset" and anything to help push that cause will help fight for their right to be heard and to be seen. They may just get what they want and that's to destroy America.

If destroying America is the desired result IceRatz16, imagine their chagrin should they ever get what they want. I guess lebron didn't get to see much overseas, but you don't have to go far until you cant wait to come back here. Reason to stand pat and not try to improve? Hell no! Tear down and shit on the only place that would let you act up even half this much? Kiss my arse. We will end up with the most stupid police forces, if we have any volunteers at all, because smart people will lose interest risking themselves only to be decried as racist murderers or put in jail for being smart gawddamn cops? I will tell you this, not as some tough guy but as some jamoke who can shit himself in a spot. A man wont get the chance to go to his car because if I'm given reason to pull a weapon, that weapon is being fired. I don't think I am the only one that will save myself first then lament afterward. I don't believe any sane person wants to kill another, but if these protests keep closing in on people shit will fly. Hope its a cold wet winter, send these people home before they come to me, please!!!!
