IMO, we need to sync both of them to Kirk. I think 2 more years make or break time. 2 years max

It should be noted that whatever length of extensions are given to both Rick and Zim, NFL owners fire GM's and/or coaches in the middle of their contracts all the time for underperformance...so if the Vikes fail to make the playoffs in 2020 or finish last in the NFC North, some fans may feel that regardless of the new contracts, both would be on the hot seat come "Black Monday" following the season...
That being said, it will be interesting to see how owners react due to the uncertainty of the 2020 season...the reason I say that is because this season isn't a typical season of 16 regular season games; there will be virtually no fans in the stands (negating some home field advantage) and it's nearly a Murphy's Law certainty that some high-profile players will test positive for COVID-19 and have to sit out some key/pivotal games that could decide playoff races and results...will NFL owners give Head Coaches and GM's the benefit of the doubt for underperformance given the unpredictability of how the 2020 season will play out?

I don't want to sound like a hypocrite, but even though I'm pretty much done with the NFL I'm strangely satisfied that his contract got extended. Break that draft record again next year Rick!!!..........

Just to stir some shit, I honestly don't blame Rick for going after Cousins, you just don't see many Tom Bradys reach free agency, so you go strong when a solid player comes available. We have had poor play and inconsistency at the QB position for forever, and Cousins has ended that. He is not a poor QB, he is consistent and DC has been crying since he left. I was all on board for a long ride with Teddy, was really looking forward to rooting for that guy. We got hosed again there. Yeah, we have been reaching on QBs forever, but Cousins is our best bet yet. Price? IDK, he gets cheaper all the time. If we come up with a plan next year to finally turn the corner on developing the oline and it becomes a strength, we have some nice talent for a run. Would love a mauler with nice feet to come in and own the left guard spot, in the hope that Samia fits the RG spot AND Cleveland is ready to go at LT. That's a lot to ask of a five man unit to get done in an "off" year. What else can we talk about, corona or riots?

That's a lot to ask of a five man unit to get done in an "off" year. What else can we talk about, corona or riots? It's a good point, and I think the thing with Cousins that gets fans scratching their heads is the price the Vikes paid for Cousins relative to where he's perceived to be on ranking of NFL QB's. He's probably Top 10 right now, but that's because the previous Top 10 QB's have fallen off a bit due to old age, and quite honestly, I don't think of Cousins as a Top 10 / franchise NFL QB who consistently leads his team to victories, even in games where he and the team aren't playing at a high level. He's had a games here and there where he's played really well (2nd half in Green Bay in 2018, Denver comeback in '19, @ Cowboys in '19, New Orleans Wild Card Playoff win in '19) but he's had just as many - if not more - "clunkers" in his 2 years in Minnesota so far, as well as in Washington, too. So some fans think the Vikes (Rick in particular) overpaid for what Cousins brings - paying Top 10 QB / franchise-type money & cap space to a QB who doesn't perform consistently up to that level. That can be explained somewhat by the open market - fringe Top 10 QB's like Cousins don't come on the open-market too often and we all know that you have to overpay to acquire players on the open market (it's a nature of free agency) - but at the same time, Rick and Zimmer need to know when to make tough personnel decisions for the betterment of the franchise as a whole. I'm not saying they should cut/release/get rid of Cousins, but I seriously doubt they'd consider drafting a QB in the early rounds of any upcoming Draft to see if they could get "cheaper" at the position while investing in other areas with their cap because they've basically locked into Cousins for the foreseeable future...

Agreed Uncle, I will concede to all of your points. Its just at that moment, we had a chance to finally get a decent QG, not top 10 maybe but solid. Now, the deal made is on Rick. Gotta negotiate like a boss Rick..... Looking for a talent at QB in the draft, I agree also the FO isn't too hot on that. Man, you always have to look to hone that blade, I don't get that "hes my guy" shit. Get the best guy.
