I really love Mahomes. Since 2018 he is my most favourite non-Vikings-player. Truely. I loved seeing him win the Lombardi last year. The Chiefs are anyway my AFC darling.
But holy shit: 500 Million for 10 years?? 50 M per year??
Whoever thought Corona would get us back on more humble track.....was wrong.
NFL has become insane this year (kneeling, name change, etc. pp....)

First I agree to your thoughts on Mahomes.
IF (and thats a big if) one Player is worth it, then it is Mahomes.
I can't really see, that the Chiefs made a big mistake here. They locked up their Franchise QB for 12 years. Of course the price is high, but i think Mahomes can only get better. The only risk to me is a bad injury. But from what i've read the Chiefs took care on this risk, as they would "only" have to pay about 140 M(?) if Mahomes gets injured.
Last point on this contract: The cap numbers have grown constantly over the last years. Maybe next year it will stagnate as a consequence of corona. But if it will rise in the next years the cap hit may seem not as high in about 6 or 7 years, if Mahomes will continue to be elite.
One other point that it is intesting: What will happen to other QBs? Apparently we are talking about Dak. But other QBs will follow soon. Mahomes should set the bar as high as no other QB but the fact, that gets about 50 M/year tells me, that Dak will command 40+ more than ever. To me this is too much. It will get intresting. Regardless: Nice to see, that there is a topic to talk about, that is not politics.

If the cap numbers increase every year, in 4-5 years, Mahomes will look like a bargain. That's in perfect world without injuries, economic collapse. It is a gamble for the Chiefs.

There’s no doubt Mahomes is a generational talent but the Chiefs may have just backed themselves into a corner. Early reports are COVID could impact the 2021 salary cap anywhere from $30 to $80 million. Also the KaeperDick led kneelers caused a15% loss in viewership. How much will the league’s new found “Wokeness” affect ratings, 50%? Everyone I’ve talked to in my neck of the woods has said if the league follows through with this shit they’re done! I definitely won’t be watching a bunch of millionaires and billionaires telling me i got to where I’m at in life because of my white privilege, I’m a racist, all cops are bad, or there’s systemic racism in the country. I realize all of networks that will be fighting for a piece of the NFL pie during the ongoing/upcoming tv contract negations are woke, but they have to have some bean counters on staff that realize the league’s tv ratings could take a major hit from all of the SJW bullshit. Will it have an impact on contract negotiations? I don’t know, but if I was negotiating on the networks behalf there would be provisions in the contracts to protect them from a possible ratings disaster.

imagine what is going to happen when all players stand for the black anthem while people with contracts like this are kneeling for the American.

Listening to NFL Radio. Believe said 10 years 450 million like. But.., they were talking how great and friendly his deal was. My thought was if so. Why wasn’t cousins at 30 mil.
I think some was it balanced out with the next two years, and guaranteed

Orif people kneelor fail to stand for it I was wondering what's going to happen if a player doesn't stand. Will he be forced to or how will the team handle it. I can totally see a blatant display of hypocrisy by the nfl here.

Maybe they mandate players, but they can’t with the fans. Just say please stand for the black national anthem. What about the Indians national anthem.should have one for the seminoles at FSU, all tribes for chiefs, Indians, Redskins.

If you don’t stand for their fake anthem that doesn’t really exist it justifies them kneeling for the real one. Its a trap. Just boycott the whole shit show and hit them in wallet thats the only way to fix it. The only way. I am giving up this season as we’re in a fight for our country. I went on 6 month plus cruises and survived without sports I can so it now. It can’t just be talk it has to have action. So far only college football and golf for me. Until they go woke.

If overthecap.com is accurate, there is a whole lot of funny money in that contract. Sure, if he continues winning superbowls and MVP's, he'll likely be paid the entire amount. If not, he can easily be cut after three or four years so as to avoid paying the balance of the windfall. It actually looks like a very team-friendly deal.

I stand for other countries anthems, but I will not do so for this so-called "black anthem". You have all the confederate based flags revamped, yet turn around and impose your "own" anthem on me?!? Kiss my ass. Its not about color, its about a group of people claiming disenfranchisement pushing a separate anthem from our American anthem. Its a bunch of Trump hating white people manipulating the young and stupid into mass demonstrations, which our politically "aware" youngsters don't see as being used. Oh, to be young and a dumb bastard, thinking your view point is rock solid and enlightened....
