Movikx- I read your post about your father on another thread. First and most importantly, I'm sorry he is sick, never easy, but just angers me for what patients and their families are going through right now.
I find it so disrespectful to the patient and their loved ones.
Crazy is.... people who work in the hospital, are NOT quarantined. From providers, nurses to people who work in housekeeping and laundry. They go home, they go to 4th of July picnics, some go to protests, or bars. They are even doing non essential surgeries in many places. No one is wearing much protective gear.
To tell you, you can't see your father, be with him... Not sure if this will work, but I've heard that sometimes when families call frequently for updates, the doctors and nurses get so sick of the calls, they lobby to get the family in. I wish your father, you and your family peace.

They are even doing non essential surgeries in many places. Most executive orders have referred to "elective surgeries." Is that what you're referring to?

skol61 , thanks. I’ve called 4 times so far and I’ve received calls from his nurse and the nutritionist. Just got off with the front desk a couple minutes ago. His COVID test came back negative, which I knew it would. They moved him out of the COVID wing. I told them I was pissed they had a 91 year old man with a compromised immune system in the COVID wing to begin with. Makes no fucking sense! I asked if he was stable, she said from the notes he had a good night and his vitals are stable. His nurse is supposed to call me when she has a minute. Then I’ll find out what the Dr had to say. Oh.... they also told me even though he is negative and they moved him out of the COVID wing they still aren’t accepting visitors. It goes case by case. I’m pretty pissed they won’t let me in but I’m trying to stay positive thinking he’s not in a life or death situation if they aren’t letting me in.

If I was in your situation I’d find out the room he’s in and go in, they wouldn’t stop me... If I may ask, what state you live in?

kramerhammer , kjun09 , thanks guys! The nurse told me the plan is to continue IV antibiotics for possible aspiration pneumonia. He’s still having a hard time getting the mucus coughed up but she said she can understand what he’s saying now. Couldn’t make out anything when he went in, just mumbles. She said he keeps saying: I have to get the hell home so I can feed my horses. He hasn’t had horses for at least 15 years. I guess with the dementia that’s the point in his life his mind is at now. The nutritionist is trying him on a higher caloric tube feeding formula that can be administered at a lower flow rate. The thought Is since he’s become less active his body wasn’t absorbing/digesting the formula he was on as quick as it needed to be and he was refluxing it then aspirating.

I'm so sorry for your situation Movikx, prayers sent. I've been stopped a few times while taking my mom in for kidney stents, it's a helpless feeling when you're normally there for them. Praying for the best for you and your dad.
