Star Fleet would never have that problem. We need better technology.

Speaking of Star Fleet, does the new US Space Force logo closely resemble the Star Fleet logo?

Speaking of Star Fleet, does the new US Space Force logo closely resemble the Star Fleet logo? Yes, because Star Trek used US Gov format originally

Cool stuff!! I've been to Cape Canaveral twice (both times after getting off a cruise and having time before a flight home). The first time there was a scheduled launch, but it got delayed for many hours so we finally just gave up and headed to the hotel. Second time, there was a launch at about 4:00 am the day we were scheduled in port. Of course, a handful of us geeks dragged our half-sober butts out of bed at 3:00 in the morning to head to the deck to watch. Probably 20 - 40 miles out, but it sure put on a nice light show in the dark night sky. I sure miss cruises.

And brought to you by the private sector at a fraction of the cost.

Just think. Only 43 years before we achieve warp capability. I might still be around. I hope so.

These are baby steps we forgot after cancelling Apollo. Sad thing is all of the technology from the actual rockets and craft is basically lost because of the advance the space program brought to the world. While I agree with you that we will not see true extra solar system exploration in our life time. I think a mars mission is within our technical capabilities. But to do that we need to learn a few things.. by baby steps. They talked cities on Mars, does anyone believe that’s happening anywhere in our grandkids life. Not at two men spacecrafts at a cost of billions of dollars, i will boldly predict this world will destroy itself before that ever happens. this Corona crap is only the beginning of all our problems.. i understand the program is is privately funded now, how long does there money hold out. One can dream. One can enjoy watching the space ship launch. But it will accomplish little

I think you're underestimating what we hairless apes have accomplished in the last 100 years. Now compound those advancements with the use of super computers, for its entire duration, and the advancements will be mind blowing in comparison to the last 100 years. I can absolutely see us mining the moon and possibly even mars within that time frame. That isn't saying we'll have light speed capable spaceships, trade agreements with an alien species and terraformed planets to our needs. It's just a belief that we'll find a way to make untold sums of money beyond what we are capable of here on this little blue rock.

One can dream. One can enjoy watching the space ship launch. But it will accomplish little Do you realize the very medium you are making your exclamation exists because of advancement of space. One could say the computer age started because of the space race. If you look at any type of screen the space race had a hand in that. Would be pretty tough to go an entire day and not use or touch something that was not effected by space exploration. Right now they are taking a deep study of the effects of space on the body of a human. This is paramount to extended space travel. The moon race was a win at all cost race with the Russians. Today society would not allow the extent of risk they took back then. Face it at this point Public Opinion would ravage any failure... regardless of success because it is much easier to spend the money on maintaining a lifestyle (social programs...) and claim it is better for humanity. The only thing that might rival it would be spending on education and hoping they develop things that the needs are unknown about right now. Necessity is the mother of invention. Problem is wars were usually the driver. Things like Microwave Ovens and the Internet exist because of advances needed for war.

Albs.... we have come a long ways in computers, technology. I am not saying we are not capable of going to Mars, But is it financially or realistically feasible, especially in building a civilization. The cost would be astronomical.
Mjoltnir. I agree...with what you have said. I don’t know if privately therebis enough money. Govt wise we are already trillions in federal debt. Printing money we don’t have,
Personally I think we will destroy ourselves first

Battery technology. It's been refined but is virtually the same technology it was 100 years ago. This is one area that needs a revolution.

In 1800 people could not imagine a bridge that could span the Mississippi. They could not imagine a rail system that could span the continent. Yet, less than 100 years later, there it was. God bless the dreamers.

Let's hope the weather stays off so the launch can occur today...I know there are some storms probably in the area, but let's hope they say 50 miles away from the launch site at 3PM ET today....
