No. 16 – Par 4
Tiger launches a low bullet off the tee with a fairway wood. It looked fine…until it rolled in a fairway bunker.
Easy, Tiger! He blasted that ball out of the bunker and it lands well behind the green. This is not going to be easy.
But what an up and down there. That’s some save, and Tiger remains under par.

No. 17 – Par 3
Never a good sign when Tiger drops the club while the ball is still climbing. Despite his obvious disappointment with that swing, Tiger is on the green, albeit on the front. He’ll have to work for this one, but it could be much worse.
The first putt was short and right, but the par putt is done. No harm done.

No. 18 – Par 4
Tiger took a big cut at that drive and it’s left. Quality of that lie (in the rough) yet to be determined.
Aaaand, it’s no good. What a move hacking that out! Tiger put his full body into that one and got it up in the approach area. After hitting it up on the board, the putt for par is good! We. Will. Take. That.

Way too much scrambling by Tiger early on....he needs to hit fairways to make his life easier...leaders are at 5-under and he's 4 shots behind so he needs to stay within 2-3 strokes here...you can't win the tournament on Thur, but you can set yourself up for not having to scramble just to make the cut on Friday and put yourself into contention for a low Rd on moving day on Saturday...

No. 1 – Par 4
Tiger starts the second half of his round with another bombed drive, but it’s in the left rough. He’ll still have an opportunity after hitting his approach to makeable birdie length – roughly 20 feet.
The putt is low, but the tap-in for par is good. No ground lost.

He’s fine. Just don’t make the big double bogey mistake. Most times the early leaders come back to field.

Jason Day a -4 and Zach Johnson at -5 are two guys who I don't expect to come back a heck of alot - they are both solid golfers who have played many majors...
I think the Thurs Round leader will be at something like -6 or -7 by the end and Tiger will need to put up at least a -2 today...his iron game seems to be strong and he's making solid 2-putts to save his pars, but he needs to find fairways to play to his strength...

No. 2 – Par 4
Well that drive is left. It forces another hack out of the rough (don’t we all hold our breath now when we see Tiger hit one of those?). He pitches it up for a legitimate look at par.
After some consulting with caddie Joe LaCava, it looks like Tiger is trying to split the right edge. He misses it low and taps in for bogey.

No. 3 – Par 3
Tiger pulls 7-iron for the 186-yard tee shot. Hit that one a shade too long. It’s just over the back and in the rough.
A handy chip sets up a par save and Tiger remains even. Perhaps a birdie opportunity coming up at this next par 5?

No. 4 – Par 5
Ooph, the run of missed fairways continues. Tiger is left after getting caught up in a tree. That could be deep in the rough.
Sure enough, he hacks out (again) and puts his third shot in tight for birdie. It drops! Back in the red.

No. 5 – Par 4
Attention: Tiger is in the fairway at No. 5! Could be big things ahead here.
He’s got a wedge in his hand for the approach, folks. Distance could not be more perfect, and he’s pin-high left with another look at birdie.
It’s down!

No. 6 – Par 4
We’re on a streak of fairways hit, folks. Here’s a dogleg left, and Tiger managed to move it back just a little bit left. Sitting pretty for the approach.
Tiger selected 8-iron from the fairway, and the body language was not pretty. Sure enough, it’s on the front of the green. Not quite the approach he needed for easy birdie. There’s work left there.
He got the speed correct going up that hill, but it slid a little too far left. Tiger with the one-hand tap-in for an easy par.

No. 7 – Par 4
Safe play off the tee here and Tiger puts it right in the middle of the fairway. Another handy iron approach will set up another birdie opportunity.
And it’s good! We’re as deep as we’ve been, folks. That’s 3 under! And he’s going to need it, because here comes the closing gauntlet.

No. 8 – Par 3
Tiger pulled a long-iron from the tee on this one, and hit a big looping fade into a front bunker. Clearly not pleased with that one, understandably.
What a deft little sand shot that was. Tiger puts himself within a few feet, and keeps par hopes alive.
…But not for very long. How did that one miss? Unfortunate two-putt for bogey.

Watched Tiger's bogey on 8 (his 17th) and the par on 18....looked comfortable driving it on the fairway on 9 (his 18th) and from the highlights of other golfers, you need to hit the fairways...Justin Rose was the only one who didn't pay the price as he only hit 3 fairways and still finished 4-under, 1 off the early lead of 5-under by Jason Day...
Tiger shot better than I thought he would today, and if the lead stays at -5, he'll be within that 2-3 strokes I think he needs to be...
Just get to -5 tomorrow and then set himself up for a low Rd on Saturday "Moving Day" to get into the final couple groups for a shot on Sunday...he doesn't have to be in the final pairing (I don't believe he was at the 2019 Masters) but he needs to be in one of the final groups and he'll need to get to -10 or so by the end of Saturday to get in that position...
I'm seeing the winning score somewhere around -13/-14 if the wind isn't too bad the next couple days...if the wind off the Bay really picks up, then you won't see too many double-digits...
Another thing I'm seeing are many putts going way by - pros are having trouble reading the speed of greens I guess...
