Great read, would love to see this guy be that 2nd chance story. Especially if he succeeds and it's with this team. Usually we watch the light come on for anther team. The Vikings are not the only minn team with that luck...the Twins and Big papa come to mind,

Since he came back he’s been catching most passes thrown his way. Unseen is he’s a good downfield blocker too.

The Pohlad comment a year or two after moving into a new stadium "our ticket sale will drive our payroll". Proof there is no commitment to winning only to operating in the black.

I don’t want to get into it too much, because it is a long time gone... but I have some personal connections to the Twins and the Ortiz situation was more than money. He hated the Twins staff and wanted out no matter what. He’d been given some advice over and over again and wouldn’t listen. Suffice it to say that the advice he was given was the same change he made when he went to Boston. He was never going to stay, and it was at least partially his own ego.

I just get tired of hearing it. Ya know?

The only guy they ever really ponied up for entering his prime was Mauer(oops), at least in the modern era since Puckett.
I knew there was head butting between Ortiz and the coaches but at the time they were playing TK small ball and they were trying to fit the power hitting DH/1B in to that system, he was about the only power on the team at that point. I don't blame that specifically on any one person but the Pohlad comments soured me on the Twins to a large degree especially with the optics of all the developed players leaving for greener pastures with usually little in return.
Seeing Ortiz become the star he is/was just accentuates that emotion-not that he is the core of it.

The problem with the twins is the pohlads, it always has been and will continue to be until they sell the team. They say they will only spend to represent ticket sales, but even early on when sales were strong they were cutting payroll or at least staying stagnant, and what does that do to ticket sales when the team isnt competitive? The habe a losers ownership model and it's a proven failure for many businesses that dont try and stay competitive in their market.
