From the Gary Anderson debacle to the Minneapolis Miracle, the Minnesota Vikings have been a franchise known as one to experience one extreme to another. After a disappointing 8-7-1 record a season ago, many began to question the signing of quarterback Kirk Cousins, Mike Zimmer's coaching style and general manager Rick Spielman’s tenure. The Vikings have since rebounded with 9-4 record this season thanks to a number of factors. Backtracking to his first year at the helm, Spielman drafted linebacker Anthony Barr and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater........ link

There is going to be alot of broken hearts when Kirk comes down off this high. Kirk is a good quarterback, however I wouldn't mortgage the franchise on this guy.

I'm confused. The Vikings "rebounded" because Kirk Cousins is the QB instead of Teddy Bridgewater?
Not the argument I'd put in cement.

I want Kirk to succeed which would mean this team wins a Super Bowl. He has played very well for most of this season.I'm not saying he can't win. What I do know is I have had the privilege living in metro D.C area to watch him play his entire professional career as the Redskins being the home team. Kirk has not been able to get it done for the most part in big games or prime time. I hope he stays hot and we finally have a franchise quarterback, however until I see him play like this for a complete season or two my glass will remain half full.

Show me a season where Teddy himself has come anywhere close to playing as good as Kirk has this year.
This year Teddy was part of some nice wins the Saints put together. But if you look at how they won those games their D played lights out.
The Vikings defense this year has fallen off and everyone can see it. And Dalvin's season has slowed down quite a bit.
If you can set aside previous years, not let them cloud your judgement and just focus on this year because that's what the article is talking about. Kirk is the biggest reason for the rebound from last year. If it isn't him what is it?
The Online gets some props also.

The one constant positive in Vikings turnaround: Kirk Cousins In the resurrection of this Vikings season, one which appeared on the brink of disaster after a 2-2 start – even though we should know better than to judge a Mike Zimmer team after four games – there have been plenty of story lines and standout performances. But in the course of the last 10 games, ... link

After a loss... It's a TEAM GAME this loss ain't on Cousins, don't you dare say it is! After a win... Cousin's is the BEST thing since EVAAAR!!! "Sure ain't the Defense"... Seeing that after a 7 turnover game is comical. A game where the offense scored ONE TD after the Defense gave them the ball inside enemy territory 5 times. Once at the 11(4 plays FG), once at the 49(4 plays INT) once at the 26(4 plays FG) and once at the 41(7 plays FG). They finally scored a TD when the defense once again gifted them the ball deep inside the chargers territory on the 10(3 plays TD) in the fourth quarter after the game was already decided. Interesting fact - Ifeadi Odenigbo had just as many TDs as Cousins had in that game. Seemed like the D played a very LARGE part in getting that W. Kirk finally got to double digit wins for the first time in his career AND he did it with a rating below 100 (96.6). Good for him, but he also put the ball on the ground twice and threw a pick. Luckily the chargers suck and it didn't hurt the team. For the first time this year the Vikings won when Kirk played slightly below average. Congrats on the W... 4 or 5 more and this will be the best Viking's season ever. Bring on the puke. 12-4 here we come.

Obviously I am not the only one with the opinion that Kirk is a main reason for the rebound. We are talking about this year, I knew it would be tough for some to not reach back into time because they really don't have much on him for this season to complain about.
I get it, no matter what Kirk does for some it will never be good enough and will always find something, can't let anything Kirk does slide.
All QBs throw picks, fumble and have bad games. Or can you show me one who hasn't? We all know the answer.
Whats funny is the defense has been so bad, the Seattle game, the Cowboys, the Broncos game and the last two if they would have blown the lead and lost the game on the last drive with no time on the clock the haters would have been out blaming Kirk and not the defense.
Same old story for some, Kirk will never be a QB worthy of the Vikings, sure they will placate with some kudos once in a while but its obvious how they feel.

Obviously people post things on the internet to get "clicks/views" so they pick a topic they know people are split on or feel passionately about. You say the D hasn't played well. I went back and looked at this year, I looked at getting the ball in plus territory because an elite QB should be able to score when given the ball in plus territory. I did not include kneel downs. 12 times the Offense had the ball in plus territory during the season(so far) and 6 times they scored TDs. That's 50%... not bad, not good... kinda average. Now let's look at the Defense. How many times did the Viking D have the opponent start on the Viking side of the field? 13 times during the season(so far) and they held their opponents to 4 TDs. That's a 30% success rate for our opponent or a 70% success rate for our D. So our Offense scores TDs 50% of the time when given the ball in plus territory and the Vikings Defense stops the opponent from scoring a TD 70% of the time when they get the ball inside Viking territory. Has the defense fallen off their # 1 ranking just a couple years ago? Yep sure have. They are currently ranked 6th in points(better than the 9th spot they finished last year) and 14th in yards(worse than their 4th spot they finished 2018 with). Offense is ranked 5th in points and 10th in yards. Seems like a balanced team. Unless you have an axe to grind against the defense. I already went over how the offense failed in 3rd quarter of the Seattle game in another thread. The Cowboys game... as I recall... the victory was sealed by Kendricks knocking a pass away to end a Cowboy drive at the Viking 10 yard line(or so). This was needed because the Viking offense went scoreless in the 4th quarter. The Denver game, the offense was absent in the first half. 6 possessions yielded 47 yards. Thank God they showed up in the second half. But yeah... our four losses are all on the defense... or Zimmer.... or the play calling... but, never.... ever Kirk. For some... Kirk can only receive credit for wins, never blame for losses. I get it, I got it last year when we went back and forth on it... I got it while reading your posts to others here that dare question Kirk's ability to lead this team back to the Super Bowl. I. Get. It. If the Vikings fail to get Kirk a playoff win this year... it will be their fault, not his because this, after all, is a team sport. If they win... it will be all because of Cousins and no other player on the team. I can't wait to say Super Bowl Champions... the Minnesota Kirk Cousins... es? ...Kirk Cousini? ...All hail the mighty Kirk.

Bezerker88,Thats exactly what I said
First I never have said Kirk is elite. Just because he got paid a very good salary doesn't magically make him elite its how free agency works. Its a good talking point for some but nothing else in my book. Then we hear the good old fantasy stats excuse but when people want to bring up other stats its just fine, can't use Kirk's stats but if they make my point look good here look at my stats I found...
It just makes me laugh how people go out of their way to take anything good they can that Kirk does, by all accounts I would say he is having a good year, but as soon as they can find something poof there it is. Kirk has to cure the whole team of their misfortunes. If the kicker misses, Kirk could have done something earlier to not put them in that spot he should have gotten the team a TD, if the Oline doesn't block Kirk should move around in the pocket better, if he throws an INT and it bounces off the WRs face it should have been in a better spot, if the corners are getting torched Kirk should have should have put up more points so it really didn't matter, on the road if the home team puts up 37 points Kirk needs to put up more......
Kirk is having a good season just deal with it.

Fairly certain that Danielle Hunter is having a great season on defense, NFL record setting even.. and the D is ranked top 10 but you claim they are bad. I don't think I've had an issue with Kirk having a good season... in fact I'm fairly sure I wished for it, hoped for it and cheered for it. You project that I do because I don't swallow everything as his doing. This 10-4 record is not just his.
The team is 10-4. For the most part the QB is one tagged with the team record for better or worse. Saying the D is bad shows that you blame the defense for losing games where I showed evidence that the offense failed during critical times of those games... just like the defense failed. I guess for you to approve of the defense they need to hold every opponent scoreless and give up 100yds or less per game. Not going to happen in today's offensive minded NFL. Just like you state how Cousins will never be good enough for some the same thing could be said about you and the defense, no?
No need to answer... it's rhetorical.
